As we began our 51st season at Camp Riverbend it was a tad stormy, but ended on Friday with blue skies. Fun was had by all, through rain and shine. Campers enjoyed many activities, including instructional and free swim, art & crafts, sports of all kinds, cooking, high ropes, drama, and, course, canoeing.
Campers made new friends while rekindling friendships from previous years. Counselors got to know their campers and helped them navigate the first week of camp. We were introduced to the Camp Riverbend mascots, the Fuzzy Fanugies, who will get to spend a few days with each group throughout the season.
We had some special events this week. There was Hawaii Day when we were treated to some hula dancing by the counselors. We had the Counselor Water Carnival with several different relays. Last but certainly not least, on Friday we had Circus Day. We had a visit from some great circus performers from the National Circus Project who performed and taught some juggling. Watch out for flying objects! You might have a juggler in your house now!
We hope that your camper enjoyed Week 1 as much as we did. We are excited to see what the rest of the 2013 Camp Season has in store for us all!
