Too cheesy? There is no denying that the weather threw us a curveball this morning as the campers and counselors were arriving at Camp Riverbend. In nearby Berkeley Heights, the National Weather Service is investigating if it was a tornado that touched down, according to Patch. Whatever it is officially called, we had a few downed trees, high winds, and crazy horizontal rain.
The great news is that everyone stayed safe while counselors and other staff ushered the campers into safe spaces, like the auditorium and locker rooms. Our maintenance staff quickly started cleaning up the trees and making our camp grounds safe again. It was great to see our staff working cooperatively to make sure the campers were safe.
The rest of the camp day went smoothly, albeit a little soggy. Campers still got to have a lot of fun and do great activities. We hope that the weather forecast improves for the week but know that either way, Riverbenders still have fun!
